The New Mexico Tourism Department is funding a grant for an artist to create a recycled art installation to be placed in Bayard Public Library Park. Artist proposals are being accepted at this time and should include a minimum of five images, drawings or diagrams and should show usage or construction from repurposed or recycled materials that can withstand outdoor conditions. The chosen recipient will receive $1,500 and be responsible for its installation. The deadline for artists to submit their ideas for the recycled art installation project is April 1st and should be delivered to the Bayard Public Library.
Family Friendly New Mexico, a nonprofit initiative, has recognized Amplified Therapy in Cliff as a winner of the “Family Friendly Business Award.” The Family Friendly New Mexico Initiative offers training, support and resources to businesses on how to implement family friendly policies, and acts as a resource and clearinghouse of information for businesses and community leaders as they develop policies on issues such as paid family leave and childcare assistance. Amplified Therapy is a New Mexico Family-Infant-Toddler early intervention provider for Catron, Grant, Luna, and San Juan counties and offers their free program for ages birth to 3-years old.
This week, the New Mexico Supreme Court unanimously decided that a state game commission rule purporting to allow landowners to limit access to public waters is unconstitutional and void. According to a release, “the New Mexico Supreme Court addressed this issue of the public right to access state waters in 1945 and concluded that the public — meaning anglers, boaters or others — may use streams and streambeds where they run through private property as long as the public doesn’t trespass across private land to access the waters, or trespass from the stream onto private land.” This recent court ruling was in response to a legal challenge brought by the New Mexico Wildlife Federation, the Adobe Whitewater Club and the New Mexico Chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers.
