The Willow Fire prescribed burn is underway. Ignition will continue through the week and is anticipated to encompass 3400 acres in the Burro Mountains south of the Flying A subdivision and west of the Burro Mountain Homestead. Firefighters and other resources from across the Gila combined with additional support from the Lincoln National Forest are on scene. Weather and other prescriptive factors will determine how long the ignition phase takes. Smoke may be visible for several days following the ignition phase as interior fuels continue to consume.
