Here is an update on the cattle removal from the Gila Wilderness. The Gila National Forest department completed their operations this past week to kill feral cattle within the boundaries of the Gila Wilderness. The aerial shooting operations resulted in 19 cattle being killed over three days and the cattle have left onsite to naturally decompose. The closure order covering the area of operations has now been lifted. The Forest Service stated that this is the “most efficient and humane way to deal with the issue.”
