During the Town of Silver City’s public meeting last week regarding a new indoor swimming pool, a design consultant offered three options, all containing an outdoor play area, that would range from $9 million to $14 million to complete. Each version would include 25-yard competitive swimming lanes, starting blocks, a climbing wall, basketball hoops, locker rooms, a multi-purpose room and an outdoor pool. According to the Town of Silver City, the goal is to provide a zero-depth entry, year-round pool that will provide the community access to different activities throughout the year.

The Girl Scouts of Deming, along with Mayor Jasso and city employees came together this past weekend to plant five Mexican Palm trees at the new inflatable water park. This activity gave the girls the opportunity to not only earn their community service badge but to also witness and be a part of the effort and hard work that goes into community projects.

The Pass Fire on the Gila National Forest, Black Range Ranger District as of July 4th, has grown to approximately 59,889 acres and is 12% contained since it was ignited by lightning on May 18th. Fire crews worked on patrolling the newly established containment line along the southeastern edge, extinguishing any fire to hold and secure it. The Pass Fire is being monitored daily and as most of it becomes less active, patrolling will not be required as frequent.
