The Gila National Forest, Reserve Ranger District has opened the Gwynn Tank Campground located adjacent to its namesake, the Gwynn Tank Pond, approximately 30 miles from Reserve off Forest Road 141. Three of the sites are pull-through and are available for self-contained RVs of less than 28’ in length. In addition, there is a vault toilet available for public use. Visitors to this camping area are reminded of the following:
- Visitors must bring their own water
- Remember to pack it in/pack it out, there is no trash pickup service
- There is no ATV/UTV use within the developed campground area
- Hunting is prohibited
- Do not abandon campfires or burn trash
- Gwynn Tank Pond is stocked by New Mexico Department of Game of Fish. Anglers 12 years and older must possess a valid New Mexico Fishing License.
Health Resources and Services Administration’s Rural Health Clinic Vaccine Confidence Program has awarded two southern New Mexico hospitals close to $50,000 each to assist with COVID-19 vaccine outreach. Under the provision of the American Rescue Plan, Mimbres Memorial Hospital in Deming and Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences will be able to use the funding to help boost vaccinations in their respective communities by providing easier access and promoting health information to assure that patients/residents can make informed health decisions.
Due to the popularity of “Music in the Park” events hosted by the Santa Clara Action Committee each Friday evening in Santa Clara, the series will continue this week featuring the Siempre Band and performances by Fit & Fabulous. The Santa Clara Action Committee was formed by a group of private citizens, Santa Clara employees, and the Village of Santa Clara to bring growth and revitalization to the Village of Santa Clara. The family themed Music in the Park event this week is this Friday from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. in Viola Stone Park in Santa Clara.
