The Western New Mexico Board of Regents will be holding a public meeting tomorrow, July 27th to discuss several topics and conduct a vote on the following items:
- Change to the faculty remote work policy
- Fiscal year 2023 research and public service projects
- Capital project transmittal for the Deming Learning Center Infrastructure Project -And-
- a Student Leadership Scholarship
In addition, according to a news release, the Board will go over fiscal year 2021 Fourth Quarter Financial Certification, Asset Disposal and the State Investment Council Agreement, and under new business, the board’s evaluation of the university president’s performance. The Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico awarded the Dr. Robert Palmer Grant to several non-profits in Luna County that include: Make a Wish; Deming Animal Guardians; National Dance Institute of New Mexico; Roadrunner Food Bank; SPIN Supporting People in Need; and Cancer Support of Deming and Luna County. The Community Foundation assists non-profits that demonstrate improvement in the well-being of Luna County residents.
City Cuts Barbershop is hosting a Back to School Backpack Drive and is asking the community to participate by dropping off a new backpacks or school supplies to their shop location at 1780 Highway 180 East in Silver City. Donations will allow participants to be eligible for a drawing to receive a City Cuts Gift Basket and children will receive 15% off haircuts. Backpack and school supply donations will be accepted from 8:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Tuesday through Friday and 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturdays until August 15th.
