The Council of the Town of Hurley will be holding a special meeting tomorrow, July 25th at 5:00 p.m. at the Hurley Community Center. The town will be discussing the Final Quarter Financial Report, Budget Adoption and the Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan. Congratulations to Luna County 4-H Students Ivan Schultz, Trinity Ruebush, Marc Dominguez, Ashlynn McGinnis, Monte Offutt and Addison Schulke. These students, who are part of the Entomology and Horticulture teams, recently competed at the 2023 State 4-H Conference this past weekend and won first place in each of their divisions. 

The New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA) is giving away free “Ultimate Backpacks” to five New Mexico Students to help create a positive impact on education. The backpacks will include an iPad, air pods, school supplies and a pizza party to celebrate with their class. New Mexico Students K-12 are eligible and registration will be open until August 14th. The Silver City High School Cross Country team recently attended the Anasazi Running Training Camp in Arizona to help prepare them for the upcoming season. The students participated in training sessions, nutrition classes, hikes and long runs throughout the wilderness. The camp gave students the opportunity to learn new skills and insights into training methods that are used by some of the most successful distance runners throughout the world. The Southwest Women’s Fiber Arts Collective (SWFAC) in Silver City, recently held their annual volunteer and donor appreciation brunch this past week. More than 53 volunteers were honored for all the time and effort they have put into the organization and helping the community. The non-profit organization, which was founded in 2005, helps share fiber art skills by teaching classes, providing free outreach activities and much more.
