Special immunization clinics will be held through August 31st for all children 0-18 years. The special clinics are part of the “Got Shots” immunization campaign brought to the public by a collaboration from the New Mexico Department of Health, the New Mexico Immunization Coalition, the New Mexico Primary Care Association, and healthcare providers from across the state. According to a news release from the NMDOH, Participating providers will offer immunizations to any child, regardless of whether they are a patient or have insurance as part of the “Got Shots” statewide campaign. Parents can find immunization and clinic locations nearest them by visiting the New Mexico Department of Health website.
The state’s Legislative Finance Committee will be holding its July meeting at Western New Mexico University, starting on July 19th. The agenda will include presentations from local leaders, state and local experts on tax policy, and leaders in the hospitality industry. According to a news release, topics to be included during the 4-day series of meetings are: tax policies; state emergency management issues on forest fires recovery efforts, long-term impact, and funding; New Mexico crime and reducing violent crime; Medicaid fraud prevention; public education; and tourism.
The Silver City Farmer’s Market is offering seasonal produce, baked goods, tortillas and tamales, grass-fed meat, eggs, pecans, plants, and lots more, at two locations each week. In Gila, residents can shop on Wednesdays from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Gila Market, across the street from the Gila Post Office. In Silver City, the market is open Saturdays on the corner of Pope and College 9:00 A.M. to 12 noon. Shoppers can use their EBT card and double their SNAP benefits with double up food bucks to get more fresh fruits and veggies. In addition, live music is back every Saturday.
