The Grant County Prospectors, District 28 State Senator Siah Correa-Hemphill and District 39 State Representative Luis Terrazas, have invited the public to attend Grant County Day at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe on Wednesday, February 1st. The day of meetings will begin at 8:00 A.M. and continue through 5:00 P.M. The Grant County Prospectors are a group of community leaders that work in collaboration to educate policy makers and community members about the economic, community development, and legislative needs for the advancement of Grant County. The U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management has appointed Dr. Sabrina Pack to the Southern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council. The Council serves in an advisory capacity concerning planning and management of public land resources located within the BLM’s Socorro Field Office and Las Cruces and Pecos Districts, which covers BLM land in our region of the state. The Council provides advice to the Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland, through the District Managers Officer, William Childress. Deb Haaland, Secretary of the Interior, expressed, “The contributions of Council members are of great value to the Bureau of Land Management and have aided in the development of balanced decisions that serve the interests of all public land users.” Dr. Sabrina Pack will be serving a three-year term on this council.
Today we celebrate the national holiday “Martin Luther King Jr. Day” commemorating the life and work of Dr. King who was a Baptist Minister and a prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. Today marks the 35th year of the celebration that was introduced to remember King’s lifetime of public work and achievements.
