Congratulations to Silver City FFA members Addison and Emma Drennan who were recognized by the New Mexico Future Farmers of America Association last month. Both ladies were awarded plaques for their dedication to their Supervised Agricultural Experience projects in the area of Diversified Livestock, Sheep Production and Swine Production as Proficiency Finalists. Also, Emma took home first place and was the State winner in the area of Diversified Livestock Production.
The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Silver City will be having guest speaker John Bush who will be having a presentation on the importance and value of diversity. Mr. Bush, who has many years of experience in the subject, will be discussing the meaning of diversity, equity and inclusion, why they are important and the value they bring to organizations and communities. The presentation will take place on June 9th at 10:00 a.m. at 3845 North Swan Street and is free and open to all community members.
Are you a senior in need of food assistance? Echo Albuquerque offers a Community Supplemental Food Program to seniors 60 years old and older in Grant County. The program provides nutritious food monthly to seniors at risk of malnutrition. The program distributes food every other month at The Santa Clara National Guard and the Silver City Recreation Center. The Silver City Mayor is inviting the public to join him at the next “Monday Meeting with the Mayor” on Monday, June 10th. The meeting will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Denny’s restaurant, located at 708 Silver Heights Boulevard in Silver City. All community members are invited to stop by anytime between those hours to share their ideas and insights on how to make the Town of Silver City more successful.

Deming Public Schools is letting the community know that Memorial Stadium Track and Field House will be closed for the summer due to construction. The Memorial Track closed on June 1st and the Field House will be closed starting Saturday, June 10th. Both projects are expected to be completed by Monday, July 22nd.
