The State of New Mexico is advancing plans to fund water-infrastructure projects in the southwest region and, to inform its approach, the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission will host a second series of public listening sessions to provide updates and get feedback from local residents and water leaders. Meetings are scheduled for June 16 at the Mimbres Valley Special Events Center in Deming, June 17 at Lordsburg High School, June 18 at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center, and June 19 at Chuck Ellis Gym at Reserve High School, each taking place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.

The City of Deming has announced the temporary closure of the intersection at Ash Street and Gold Street for approximately four weeks as part of the ongoing Gold Street Project. During this period, Gold Street will remain open to traffic in both directions; however, through traffic on Ash Street will be restricted between Gold and Silver Streets. This closure is necessary to facilitate construction activities associated with infrastructure improvements. Community members seeking additional information are encouraged to contact the City of Deming’s Community Services Department.

The City of Lordsburg will commence the Colonia Project on Monday, June 16, encompassing the area north of the railroad tracks. This significant infrastructure initiative may result in intermittent water shut-offs and periods of low water pressure for residents throughout the construction phases. The City urges all residents to remain attentive to construction signage and to exercise caution and courtesy toward work crews to ensure the safety and efficiency of the project.
