Toward the end of the fall semester, nursing students and faculty from Western New Mexico University had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the legislative process and professional advocacy at the New Mexico Nurses Association (NMNA) Student Day at the New Mexico Legislature. Students and faculty engaged with several legislators and the NMNA lobbyist at the Roundhouse, gaining valuable insights into the legislative process. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a mock legislative session, where they debated a bill that will be presented during the 2025 legislative session. The primary goal of the event was to empower students to advocate for their beliefs and to effectively use their voices in professional settings.
