The Town of Silver City Council will convene a Special Council Meeting on January 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant County Administration Center. Agenda items include the Mayor’s appointment of boards and commissions for Council consideration; approval or disapproval of Resolution 2026-04, a resolution committing funds to the Village of Santa Clara for the operation of the Silver City Senior Center for fiscal years 2027 through 2031; and the appointment and swearing-in of the District 1 Councilor. The meeting is open to the public.
The Grant County Community Partnership for Children has been selected as a recipient of Gila Regional Medical Center’s Community, Assistance, Resources, Engagement and Support (CARES) outreach program. Through this designation, the organization will receive funding to support its ongoing efforts to build strong support networks for families and to ensure that children and families in Grant County have access to essential resources. These efforts help contribute to the creation of nurturing environments in which children and families can thrive.
Hidalgo County recently adopted Resolution No. 2026-01 authorizing the execution and delivery of a Colonias Infrastructure Project Fund loan and grant agreement between the New Mexico Finance Authority and Hidalgo County for the benefit of the designated colonia of Animas. The agreement provides total funding of $2,124,885 to be used solely for construction improvements for the Animas School District, including the removal or replacement of existing wastewater infrastructure. The resolution further certifies the sufficiency of available funds to complete the project and authorizes all necessary steps to execute and deliver the agreement.

Sponsored by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, this scholarship awards a one-time grant of $5,000 each year to a single student enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university in the United States.
