The Jacob Bennett Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is pleased to announce that Mr. Luke Trevin Allsup, a senior at Cliff High School, has been selected as a candidate for the New Mexico State Good Citizen Scholarship Award Program. This recognition is awarded to students who exemplify the highest standards of dependability, including qualities such as truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality; leadership, reflected in personality, self-control, and a strong sense of responsibility; and patriotism, shown through an unselfish commitment to family, school, community, and nation. Congratulations to Mr. Allsup on his achievement. 

Animas Public Schools will host a Community Input Meeting on Monday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m. in the high school library, inviting all community members to participate in discussions aimed at enhancing educational programs and initiatives. The district is seeking valuable feedback on several key topics, including Title Funding, Fine Arts Education Act Funding, Gifted Education, and Special Education Programming. This meeting provides an important opportunity for community members to share their perspectives and contribute to the continued improvement of programs that directly impact students and families.

The Grant County Youth Substance Awareness and Prevention Coalition, in collaboration with the Grant County Health Council and the New Mexico Department of Health, provided specialized training to staff at the Silver City Gospel Mission as part of the “Save A Life!” initiative. This effort equipped participants with essential skills and resources to effectively respond to opioid overdoses, representing a significant step toward reducing stigma and addressing the opioid crisis in the community.

The Kiwanis Club of Silver City will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 9:00 a.m. at Penny Park, with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will include prizes, face painting, photos with the Easter Bunny, and more. The Silver City Elks Lodge will also host an Easter Egg Hunt at 11:00 a.m., offering entertainment for the entire family. In Glenwood, the community Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Park, featuring an abundance of eggs and fun prizes for all ages. In Lordsburg, the Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Short Park and will include a special appearance by the Easter Bunny. This event is open to children of all ages.
