At the time of compiling this report, New Mexico Department of Health officials announced a new total of 175,652 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases statewide, an increase of 670 new cases. Grant County has increased 8 new cases for a total of 1,304 positive cases; Luna County has increased 12 new cases for a total of 2,959 positive cases; Hidalgo County increased 2 new cases for a total of 325 positive cases; and Catron County has remained at a total of 71 positive cases.
The Department of Cultural Affairs has announced the state’s eight museums and seven of its historic sites will begin to safely reopen to the public starting this week. Locally, the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Museum in Las Cruces will open its doors on Monday, February 8th. The openings will be conducted in accordance with COVID-safe practices and public health measures to protect the well being of patrons. The Gila National Forest Silver City Ranger District is looking for a volunteer camp host to be stationed at Gomez Peak and Little Walnut day use areas. Amenities provided include a pull-through campsite, water, electricity, phone, sewer and phone. The position begins on March 15th.
