Yesterday, the Grant County Prospectors hosted the annual Grant County Day with the New Mexico Legislature in the Roundhouse in Santa Fe. The day focuses on legislative issues and concerns of Grant County. In addition, members of the Prospectors, Legislators, local government officials, and community members met with the Governor to discuss Grant County priorities. The Grant County Prospectors, founded in 1976, are a group of community leaders that work in collaboration to educate policy makers  and community members about the economic, community development and legislative needs for the advancement of Grant County.

Luke Bower of Tyrone and Chase Dobrinski of Silver City have been named to the All-American Trap Shooting Team according to the Amateur Trapshooting Association. Bower was selected for the 2023 Junior (age 15-17) All-American trapshooting second team and Dobrinski was selected for the 2023 Sub-Junior (ages younger than 15) first team. Trapshooting has been a competitive sport for over 100 years and is comprised of shooting at clay targets with a shotgun. According to a news release, to be considered for the All-American team, Bower and Dobrinski had to meet a minimum target requirement and compete in at least three states. Selection was made based on All-American points accumulated while winning trophies and posting high scores at tournaments throughout the country during the 2022 ATA target year. Luke Bower plays football and golf for Silver High School, is a member of the National Honor Society, has served as 4-H club president. Chase Dobrinski is a 6th grader at Calvary Christian Academy and is a member of the Lone Mountain 4-H Club. Congratulations to Luke Bower and Chase Dobrinski!
