Here’s a look at some local news brought to you by Silver City Radio.

At the time of compiling this report, the New Mexico Department of Health, announced a total of 99,419 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases statewide, an increase of 2,330 new cases. In addition, COVID-19 cases recorded locally are as follows: Grant County increased 4  new cases for a total of 513  positive cases; Luna County increased 20 new cases for a total of 1,976 positive cases; Hidalgo County increased 1 new case for a total 187 total positive cases; and Catron County increased 1 new case for a total 37 positive cases. Statewide, there are 909 COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The Governor’s “Red to Green” COVID-19 framework begins today which includes three levels of operations that are based on the county’s ability to satisfy specified metrics: Green Level; Yellow Level; and Red Level. According to the Governor’s order, a county will remain at a given operating level so long as it continues to satisfy the specific metrics for that level. The Department of Health maintains the official map displaying each county’s status and will update the map every other Wednesday.  To reach the Green Level counties must satisfy the following:

  • A new COVID-19 case incidence rate of no greater than 8 cases per 100,000 inhabitants during the most recent two-week period; AND
  • An average percent of positive COVID-10 test results over the most recent 14-day period less than or equal to 5%

The New Mexico Department of Health maintains an official map displaying each county’s current level on its designated COVID-19 webpage at cv.nmhealth.org.
