Silver City Mainstreet has received a grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation the Downtown Recovery Project. According to a news release, the funding will be used for the Downtown Passport Program and the Small Business Assistance Program. The Downtown Passport Program is a fun incentive to engage families to come downtown and complete their passport to receive Mainstreet gift certificates as prizes. In addition, the Small Business Assistance Program, designed with and funded by the Town of Silver City, provides small forgivable loans for infrastructure projects that help downtown businesses to remain in operation. So far, forty-three projects have been funded.
The Silver City Regional Association of Realtors had their first in-person event in over a year and awarded “Realtor of the Year” honors to Susan Turner. Susan was born and raised in Silver City and has been a Realtor and owner of Wagon Wheel Realty in Silver City for over 40 years. Congratulations to Silver City Realtor of the Year, Susan Turner!
The Gila National Forest, Reserve Ranger District reports that the pedestrian bridge across the Tularosa River has been moved downstream due to flooding on July 23rd. The Walk in the Past Trail #616 is still open, and the ranger district recommends that all hikers proceed with caution when crossing the river. The Gila National Forest Engineering staff and the Reserve Ranger District are currently working towards getting the bridge reinstalled.
