At the time of compiling this report, the New Mexico Department of Health, announced a total of 21,566 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases. In addition, COVID-19 cases locally impacting the area are as follows: Grant County remained at 70 total cases with 25 recovered; Luna County increasing to 240 total cases and 57 recovered; Hidalgo County remaining at 88 total cases with 27 recovered; and Catron County remaining at 4 total cases. Statewide, there are 138 individuals currently hospitalized statewide and 8,828 individuals designated as totally recovered.
Yesterday, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced the launching of the Small Business Recovery Loan Fund comprised of $400 million from the Small Business Recovery Act for low-interest loans to New Mexico business and non-profits that have experienced financial hardship due to COVID-19 pandemic. According to a release, “Eligible businesses and nonprofits may borrow two times their average monthly expenses up to a maximum of $75,000. The measure sets the interest rate at one-half the prime rate on the day the loan is made. The initial loan period is three years, with interest-only payments for the first three years.” Applications are open through December 31st, 2020 or until the funds are gone, whichever comes first. The Mimbres Region Arts Council has announced the transfer of the Southwest Print Fiesta to Power & Light Press, a local print business located in Downtown Silver City. There will not be an in-person Print Fiesta this Fall because of the COVID-10 pandemic, although, the Mimbres Region Arts Council will continue to support the vision of the event and plans are already underway for the Annual print Fiesta event to take place next year.
