At the time of compiling this report, COVID-19 cases have increased in New Mexico to 363 individuals, with 31 hospitalizations. There is a total of six deaths now in New Mexico from COVID-19. For our area, sadly we now have more than one case of COVID-19 in Grant County and one in Catron County.
The PNM Good Neighbor Fund is stepping up to help pay electric bills due to the reduction in household incomes from the COVID-19 health emergency. Customers falling into low income status after their employers cut hours or closed their doors can utilize the PNM Good Neighbor Fund to pay up to $150 towards PNM electric bills through April 30th. In an effort to help local families in the Lordsburg area, the Lordsburg Elks and joined forces with the Juvenile Justice Continuum of Services and Ramona’s Café by offering a free meal to 600 students in the Lordsburg School District. The meals will be served Monday through Thursday between 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. at 212 East Motel Drive, curbside service only. All participants must call or text ahead to Glenda at 575-639-2484 while supplies last.
The Town of Silver City will be turning off water on Monday, April 6th from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. along Ridge Road and surrounding areas beginning south of Mountain View Drive to the Grant County Detention Center. Utilities Department crews will be tying-in the new 12” water main currently under construction. For any inquiries, residents are advised to contact the Utilities Department at 575- 534-6365.
