The Gila Regional Medical Governing Board will convene in a Regular Meeting. The meeting will be Thursday, April 27th at 9:00 a.m. and will take place in the Commission Meeting Room at the Grant County Administration Center. The New Mexico Wildlife Federation will be sponsoring a free event for those in the Deming area. There will be archery stations, trout fishing, wildlife calls, a wildlife identification station and much more. It will take place April 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00p.m. at Trees Lake in Deming. Gila National Forest employees recently completed a 4-day trip along the Gila River and reported numerous trees down across the channel. Within a few short miles off of New Mexico Highway 15, near Gila Hot Springs, is where the first of many trees are down across the river. If planning a trip across the Gila Wilderness river it is recommended that rafters have an understanding of how to read the river, be ready to carry boats and gear around numerous obstacles and have well-developed wilderness skills.
