The Catwalk National Recreation Trail and Whitewater Picnic Area will be closed this Thursday and Friday, July 18th and 19th for the safety of the public. Officials will be blasting hazardous rock outcrops in the area where the June 2nd rockfall occurred. The Whitewater Picnic Area and 1/4 mile of the old trail that have been open during the summer (provided the area isn’t flooding, of course) should be open once again on Monday, July 22nd. Regular hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am to 1 pm.
Due to potential storms, the Catwalk my be closed during regular hours for public safety. Before heading out the the recreational area, please contact the Glenwood Ranger District at 539-2481, or see previous posts for additional contact information, before you go.
