Art Cruz of Silver City was the recipient of the Cobre Key Club BBQ Grill Give-Away during the Annual July 4th Celebration in Gough Park. Raffle tickets for the grill were sold at the Kiwanis all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast and BBQ lunch. Congratulations to Mr. Cruz.
Hidalgo Medical Services School Based Clinics will be opening their doors to the community for the 2017-18 academic year beginning the week of Monday, July 24th, 2017. The Clinics offer immunizations, sports physicals, well-child checkups, treatment of acute and chronic illness, lab work, physical exams, mental health assessments and counseling to eligible students, faculty and staff.
At a July 6 meeting of the New Mexico Central Arizona Project Entity, Executive Director Anthony Gutierrez reported that scope of studies were continuing for a Gila River diversion project as well as a proposal to use existing infrastructure to transfer water from Bill Evans Lake to the Mimbres Basin. The new proposed plan would use existing infrastructure owned by mining company Freeport McMoRan to move diverted Gila water from Bill Evans Lake near Silver City.
The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has scheduled an open house to discuss plans to transition its southwest regional office from the east side of Las Cruces to the Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park.
