Celebrate 21 years of the Silver City Blues & Bikes Festival along with an Artist Reception for Jean Beffort and William Lloyd May 20th, 5:30 – 7 Murray Ryan Visitors Center
The Mimbres Region Arts Council (MRAC) invites all Blues & Bikes Festival lovers to a kick off reception celebrating 21 years of blues festivals May 20, from 5:30-7 pm at the Murray Ryan Visitors Center, 201 North Hudson St., Silver City, NM.
On display will be Jean Beffort’s mixed media collage entitled “All Aboard”, featuring the Grant County legend Madame Millie riding a vintage motorcycle with a sidecar along with three furry friends. Limited edition prints of “All Aboard” will be available for purchase during the reception and during the blues festival. The print is 12” x 14” and sells for $45.00.
Lloyd Studios created a custom collectible knife with carved deer antler handle depicting an eagle. Included is a scabbard and stand carved from Silver City’s Boston Hill cholla, featuring a carved medallion of the 21st Silver City Blues & Bikes Festival logo. The knife comes with a handmade leather case all valued at $1,000.
“All Aboard” mixed media collage and Lloyd Studios custom knife along with other great prizes will be raffled off during the Blues & Bikes Festival Memorial Day weekend. Proceeds will benefit MRAC programming, including the newly launched Music Matters program supporting music education in area schools. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase during the reception.
Barnett’s Las Cruces Harley Davidson brought in a Heritage Soft Tail and an Anniversary Road Glide motorcycle for motorcycle fans enjoyment. During the Blues & Bikes Festival on Sunday, May 29th. there will be a People’s Choice Bike Show. The trophies for the People’s Choice Bike Show winners are available for viewing and are made by artists Buddy Nunn, Ted Shinkle and Michael Garner.
MRAC’s collection of past Blues Festival posters are hung in the lobby of the Murray Ryan Visitors Center sharing a history of the blues festivals. Limited vintage Blues Festival posters will be available for purchase until the end of May.
