Each year, Kiwanis clubs around the world join in a day of service. In 2014, Kiwanis One Day is April 5th. It’s a global effort, but it’s made of personal commitments. The Kiwanis Club of Silver City and The Kiwanis Key Club of Silver High School are inviting you to attend a Walk-a-thon to help Eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus, also called MNT.
Please join them on Saturday, April 5th from 8:30 to 12 Noon at the Silver High School Athletic Field Track, to Walk in order to Save lives all over the world. Just $1.80 saves a life of a child and it’s mother. Registration is just $6.00 (saves 3 lives) for Ages 12 and up AND $2.00 for Ages 12 and Under (saves one life).
Kiwanis and UNICEF joined forces to tackle iodine deficiency disorders, achieving one of the most significant public health successes of the 20th century. Now, they are eliminating MNT from the face of the Earth. And in doing so, the project will reach the poorest, most neglected mothers and babies with additional lifesaving health care. The end of this one disease means the beginning of better health for so many families.
All proceeds will go to Project Eliminate, and everyone is welcome to participate. So come out, save some lives and get some exercise! We will also be accepting donations if you decide not to walk. For More Information, call 575-538-3787 or 575-574-2543.
