Thursday is the second day of racing for Silver City’s Tour of the Gila, powered by SRAM. Here are some road advisories for the “Inner Loop” 80 mile road race that requires racers to climb more than 5700 feet. Roads impacted will be NM 15, NM 35, NM 152 and US 180 from 7:15 am to 2:30 pm. Everyone is urged to plan accordingly. A road closure on NM 15 will begin at 7:30 am to 12:30 pm from Bear Creek Cabins in PA to the intersection with NM 35. The road will be closed from mile markers 6 through 25. Races begin at 7:30 am and additional races will follow, such as the Master Men B on Main Street in PA, and will end at Historic Fort Bayard. Various categories start at staggered times, with the UCI Men beginning at 9 am at the Fort Bayard Medical Center. They are expected to finish, back at Fort Bayard Medical Center, around noon after looping through Bayard mid-day. Everyone is invited to come out and cheer on the racers. Again, NM 15, NM 35, NM 152 and US 180 are all expected to be impacted due to races from 7:15 am to 2:30 pm. The race will not affect business in Pinos Altos.
