Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving has its origins in the early 17th century, when English Pilgrims and Native Americans, particularly the Wampanoag tribe, came together in 1621 to celebrate a successful harvest in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This event is often regarded as the “First Thanksgiving,” though it was not initially an annual tradition. Over time, Thanksgiving became more widely observed in various states, with President Abraham Lincoln declaring it a national holiday in 1863, during the Civil War, as a way to promote unity. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated across the United States with family gatherings, feasts, and a focus on giving thanks for the harvest and blessings of the past year.
