During this year’s Give Grandly event, the community fundraising campaign raised more than $406,763 for 133 nonprofit organizations across the region. Participating organizations included El Refugio, Inc., Upper Gila Watershed Alliance, High Desert Humane Society, and The Commons: Center for Food Security and Sustainability, which was the second-highest earning organization with more than $40,000 raised to support food security initiatives in Grant County. A complete list of funded organizations and donation information is available on the website.

The Town of Silver City Council will hold a regular council meeting today, May 12, at 6 p.m. at the Grant County Administration Center. The meeting agenda includes the manager’s report, committee reports, and consideration of Resolution 2026-16, which would authorize the filing of an application and related documents for funding assistance through the New Mexico Finance Authority Water Project Fund. The resolution seeks technical assistance funding to support professional services and legal fees associated with the town’s water and wastewater systems.

The Silver City Gospel Mission is celebrating an outpouring of community generosity after receiving nearly 3,000 pounds of donated food through the recent Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. The donations, collected and delivered by the United States Postal Service, will help support individuals and families in need throughout the Silver City area. The success of the food drive is due to the strong support and compassion shown by local residents who contributed to the annual community effort.
