Through a partnership between the New Mexico Clean and Beautiful Program and the Town of Silver City, GRIP and the Youth Mural Program engaged local youth interns this spring in efforts to beautify and revitalize Big Ditch Park. Interns participated in park improvement activities, including tree planting, erosion control enhancements, litter removal, graffiti cleanup, and ongoing maintenance such as watering and weeding native plantings. In addition, the Youth Mural Program is currently developing a mural within the park, further contributing to its revitalization and community engagement efforts.

The New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department has launched a new public dashboard providing New Mexicans with access to data on child removals, adoptions, and statewide child welfare cases. Created in compliance with Senate Bill 42, the interactive platform features quarterly updates on child protective services metrics, including children in state custody, abuse and neglect reports, adoptions, and cases transferred to tribal jurisdictions. The dashboard is designed to improve transparency while allowing advocates, lawmakers, providers, and the public to better understand the department’s work through searchable and filterable data.
