The Grant County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting at 8:30 a.m. on June 25, at the Grant County Administration Complex. Commissioners are scheduled to discuss appointments to the Gila Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees, consider a resolution increasing salaries for elected officials and chief deputies, review a revised proposal for bathroom and HVAC improvements at the Grant County Fairgrounds, and consider participation in the New Mexico State Land Office’s Road Amnesty Program. The meeting will be livestreamed on the county’s Facebook page. 

The Cliff FFA Pasture and Range Team recently presented highlights of its national competition experience to the Grant Soil & Water Conservation District after advancing from the New Mexico State FFA Range Judging Contest, where the team placed second. The team competed at the National Land and Range Judging Contest in El Reno, Oklahoma, where students evaluated land for livestock use, conservation, and development through soil and plant identification and range management skills. The team placed 22nd nationally and was the highest-ranking New Mexico team. 

State Representative Jenifer Jones will host district office hours from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 25 at the Lordsburg City Hall. Residents are invited to meet with the representative’s office for assistance with Medicaid or SNAP benefits, state agency concerns, unemployment claims and job searches, as well as state taxes, fees and related matters. The office hours are intended to provide local constituents with direct access to state government resources and support.

Applications for New Mexico’s Trails+ Grant program will open July 1, providing $12 million in funding for outdoor recreation projects that expand trail access, strengthen local economies and support the preservation of the state’s natural and cultural resources. Eligible projects include planning, design and engineering, trail amenities such as signage and benches, bike lanes, outdoor learning spaces, multi-use trails, active transportation routes and other recreation improvements.
