Silver City’s Economic Development and Research Committee held its first meeting to discuss using public tax revenue data and statistical analysis to help guide future recommendations to the Town Council. Committee members reviewed state gross receipts tax reports, discussed identifying local economic trends and explored the possible use of artificial intelligence for data analysis, while emphasizing the importance of human oversight and community input in decision-making. Future discussions are expected to focus on abandoned properties, town revenue sources, research priorities and infrastructure planning.
Grant County will host a Mimbres Community Meeting on Wednesday, May 27 at 12 p.m. at the Mimbres Senior Center. Community members are invited to share ideas and provide input to help shape the county’s five-year Infrastructure Capital Improvement Plan (ICIP), which serves as a roadmap for future infrastructure and capital projects. Public input will help guide future investments in roads, facilities, public safety, parks, and other projects that support the growth and well-being of the community.
