A $30 million flood protection project led by the New Mexico Border Authority in partnership with Luna County has reached a milestone with completion of Phase 3 of a multi-mile berm designed to protect the Columbus Port of Entry and surrounding areas. The infrastructure, which includes flood control and drainage improvements, is intended to reduce recurring flood risks affecting about 1,800 acres along the U.S.-Mexico border, including nearby communities in both New Mexico and Chihuahua, Mexico.
