The New Mexico Army National Guard recently turned over its Deming armory to Luna County more than 75 years after its first unit was stationed there. Due to the armory being underutilized in recent years, it will now be renovated for use as an emergency operations center housing the county’s central dispatch and Emergency Management office as well as volunteer firefighters. Renovations for the building are set to take place in the upcoming year.
