The State of New Mexico has consolidated two programs that provide housing aid that will simplify access to emergency housing assistance funds. The newly created New Mexico Home Fund helps renters and homeowners in New Mexico pay for their rent, mortgage, and utility bills. The program is funded by the Federal Government and administered by the State of New Mexico. The program brings two together the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, formerly RentHelpNM.org and the Homeowner Assistance Program. Over $200M is available to support NM Renters and $55M is available to support homeowners. Both programs will run until September 2025 or until program funds are exhausted. In addition, the provided funds do not need to be repaid. Individuals interested in applying for assistance may visit www.nmhomefund.org.

Representatives from the Service Academies, ROTC programs, and Congressional Offices will be holding a virtual information event for New Mexico on Thursday, September 8th. Individuals interested in becoming a Military Officer in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Space Force, Merchant Marines or Coast Guard can learn about the application and nomination processes. The City of Rocks State Park and Rockhound State Park in Deming in conjunction with the Astronomy Friends of the Parks have announced their 2022 Fall/Winter and 2023 Spring astronomy program schedule. Weather permitting, about 20 minutes after sunset, a laser guided tour is given on the highlights of that evening sky. The next event is scheduled for September 16th and 17th at 7:15 P.M.
