Hidalgo Medical Services has been recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration in three award areas. Among the three award areas, HMS earned the following recognitions:

  • Health Center Quality Leader Award, a top clinical performance rating among all health centers earning the top tier, known as the Gold Tier, for clinical quality measures.
  • The Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality award, recognizing advanced telehealth, patient engagement, interoperability, and increasing access to care and advance quality of care.
  • Patient Centered Medical Home Recognition award recognizing core functions including: Comprehensive Care; Patient-Centered Care; Coordinated Care; Accessible Services; and Quality and Safety.

HMS is a Federally Qualified Health Center serving residents in Hidalgo and Grant Counties.

The New Department of Transportation is beginning a $1.4 million dollar project on US 180 East of Silver City. Work has begun on installation of a pedestrian trail to included lighting, signage and crosswalks. According to plans, US 180 will have a lane closures on the eastbound and westbound right driving lanes with a reduced speed to 35 mph. Contractor hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. till 5:00 p.m. The project is estimated to be completed by the end of November. Silver City Mayor, Ken Ladner is inviting the community to share their thoughts, suggestions, and ideas regarding local issues during a virtual “Monday Meeting with Mayor” scheduled for next Monday, September 21st.
