Silver Consolidated Schools is offering a series of free training sessions designed to support family members who are raising children of relatives. These sessions will begin on February 13th at 5:30 p.m. in the Silver High School Library. The training series will provide practical tips and valuable advice to assist caregivers in their responsibilities. Childcare and dinner will be provided for participants. Over the past months, Gila Resources Information Project (GRIP), with funding from New Mexico Environment Department’s River Stewardship Program has worked with project partners, youth and adult volunteers to improve water quality, wildlife habitat and reduce riparian fire risk. Some of the projects GRIP has accomplished include: 1,200 plus willows and cottonwoods planted to stabilize stream banks and restore wildlife habitat, 65 check dams constructed to stop erosion and protect Silver City’s sewer line and 340 plus tons of slash removed to reduce riparian fire risk.
The Santa Clara Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department recently acquired a state-of-the-art water tender, a significant addition that will greatly enhance the department’s firefighting capabilities. With its large water capacity and advanced features, this new vehicle will serve as a vital asset in safeguarding the community and ensuring the safety of its residents.
