The New Mexico Farmers Association, in collaboration with the New Mexico Acequia (Ahh-say-kee-ah) Association has introduced the 2021 Infrastructure Grant Program. The “COVID-19 Local Food Supply Chain Response Fund” grant provides New Mexico farmers and ranchers with financial support regarding infrastructure needs that include:

  • Growing and improving economic viability
  • Increasing soil and ecosystem health
  • Increasing access to healthy and culturally important foods for communities
  • Supporting the next generation of young farmers and ranchers

Farmers, ranchers, and producer collectives who are residents or whose farms are located in New Mexico, are invited to apply by visiting newmexicofma.org. Applications are due by Wednesday, March 17th.

The Virus Theater, with funding support from the Town of Silver City, is hosting a Spring 2021 After School Theater Program for Middle School students. The program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from March 23rd through May 13th at the Silver City Recreation Center. All interested participants must be in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and must fill out an application that can be obtained by emailing to virustheater@gmail.com. Students will learn acting, improv, and character development in addition to developing a performance that will be performed virtually by video or livestream. COVID-safe practices will be followed, and if there are more applicants than spots available, the Virus Theater may hold auditions.
