The Hidalgo County Commission tabled a proposed purchase agreement with Diamond A Ranch involving easements on portions of Cloverdale Road and Foster Draw Road in the Bootheel after hearing public comments both for and against the proposal. The agreement could improve safety and create an opportunity to secure funding for repairs to other county roads, while opponents raised concerns about vacating county roads and future public access. The commission also appointed a group of freeholders to review the proposal and provide recommendations on whether the sale would benefit the county.
