This year, due to COVID-19 National Cemetery restrictions limiting the size of gatherings, a small core group of committed volunteers will place ALL holiday wreaths associated with the “Wreaths Across America” program directly following their delivery by semi-truck in mid-December.  Each one of the volunteers will be gloved, masked, and socially distanced per National Cemetery and CDC guidelines. According to a release, it is anticipated that every marker at the cemetery will have a wreath thanks to the generous sponsorship of Grant County individuals, organizations, and businesses, as well as many relatives and friends from outside the county. Those who had wished to place their individual special-request wreath(s) are invited to come to the cemetery on December 19th or later to visit and replace the wreath(s) as they individually remember and honor their loved one(s).

Silver High School has nominated Hailey Cisneros, a junior, as their Kiwanis Student of the Month. Hailey is described as an amazing student and person being organized and dedicated to her education. Hailey regularly takes honors, AP, and college courses. She continues to participate in National History Day and has been part of a group that has finished 5th and 2nd in the country. In addition, Hailey works at Hatch Toyota and Hatch Ford. Due to state COVID-19 restrictions, the Kiwanis Club of Silver City has not been able to celebrate in-person monthly Student of the Month luncheons since last Spring. Participating schools have been asked to nominate worthy students that will be honored in a virtual setting. Congratulations to Hailey Cisneros of Silver High School!
