The Grant County Airport (SVC) will hold an online Public Information Workshop to kick off the Airport Action Plan Study on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 6:00 P.M. The Grant County Airport Action Plan Study, recently initiated, will run 9 to 12 months with an estimated completion in early fall of 2021. As part of the study, there are two public information workshops scheduled and three project newsletters to be published for the community to follow the study’s progress. The first online workshop, scheduled for January 6th, will begin with a presentation and conclude with a question and answer session about the planning process and elements of the study. In addition, public input on the study is also welcomed. The Silver City Rotary Club raised a total of $2,300 for PolioPlus, Rotary International’s polio eradication program. The club presented “Fact or Fiction” fundraising games online that allowed players to donate funds during the months of November and December. In addition, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation matches Rotary contributions to PolioPlus on a two to one basis resulting in $6,900 going to the PolioPlus project.

This New Year’s holiday, the public is reminded to follow precautions to prevent drunk driving. In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, parties and large gatherings are discouraged. If you must drive, make sure to designate a sober driver if traveling and/or make sure guests have a safe ride home.
