The Town of Silver City has scheduled a water outage for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 21st, to connect a new 12-inch water main. The water will be off on Ridge Road from Partridge Drive to the Grant County Detention Center and surrounding area from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. In particular, areas to be affected by the outage in Silver Acres include: Country Club Drive, Lance Drive, Vicente Place, Spear Drive, Bonita Avenue, Spur Drive, Little Spur Drive, Tabor Avenue, Trailing Heart, Broken Arrow Drive, Apache Street, Comanche Street, and Broken Bow Drive. Residents wishing to ask questions are urged to contact the Utilities Department at (575) 534-6365.

In celebration and recognition of Earth Day, Gila Earth Day is presenting a virtual book tour to be livestreamed on Zoom and Facebook this Thursday, April 22nd at 6:00 P.M. Join New Mexico PBS reporter, Laura Paskus, speaking on her new book titled. “At the Precipice, New Mexico’s Changing Climate.” There will be a question and answer period provided at the end of program. Beginning on this Friday, April 23rd, attorney’s in several New Mexico counties will be able to electronically initiate civil lawsuits and file subsequent documents in cases in magistrate courts that include the Sixth Judicial District of Grant, Hidalgo and Luna counties. This measure represents the second phase of a planned statewide rollout of e-filing in magistrate courts. According to a release, e-filing was launched in 18 magistrate courts in January resulting in approximately 950 electronic filings in civil cases in those courts through the end of March. In addition, e-filing allows litigants to submit electronic documents instead of paper and to electronically deliver copies to other parties in the case.
