Flu Shots and Health Screenings at Mimbres Health Fair

The Mimbres Health Fair will offer over a variety of free screenings, including flu shots, blood pressure and blood glucose, dental, mental health and many others to Grant County residents on Saturday, October 1st, from 9am to 2pm at the San Lorenzo Elementary School Cafeteria on Highway 35.  The Health Fair is held in conjunction with the annual Mimbres Valley Harvest Festival.

Hidalgo Medical Services and the WNMU Students Nurses Association are sponsoring the Health Fair and our partners from Hometown Oxygen, Walgreens, WalMart and others will be available for screenings and information on county resources, all in an effort to help our County’s residents take good care of themselves.

For the fourth year in a row, Walgreens will be offering free flu shots according to Store Manager, Derek Ratcliff.  “Walgreens wants to keep offering this great service and give back to our community.”

Last year’s Health Fair saw over 275 people sign in and receive healthcare screenings that, in some cases, alerted people to urgent healthcare problems that needed attention.  Hidalgo Medical Services will have doctors on hand for a personal consultation about the screening results.

Come out to the valley, get some good health care checkups, then enjoy the wonderful Harvest Festival’s great fun, grower’s booths, arts and crafts tables and music until 5 pm on the grounds of the school.
