Here’s a look at today’s headlines:

The Gila National Forest, Silver City Ranger District personnel will be opening five campgrounds for the season on Monday, April 3rd.  The campgrounds are Iron Creek Campground, Upper Gallinas Campground, Railroad Canyon Campground, Cherry creek Campground, and McMillan Campground.

Veronica Valenzuela, 41, of Columbus, N.M., was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Las Cruces, to 156 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release for her methamphetamine trafficking conviction.  Valenzuela was arrested in February 2015 n a criminal complaint alleging conspiracy and methamphetamine trafficking charges.

U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) led today in advancing two bills he introduced that will enhance opportunities for outdoor recreation, reauthorize a key conservation program, improve access to our public lands, and protect wilderness within the Río Grande del Norte National Monument northwest of Taos, New Mexico.
