In Trout Fire News:

In response to the Trout Fire, the City of Lordsburg has opened Veterans Park to those in need of a safe and temporary place to stay. The park is available for individuals seeking a location to rest, set up tents, or find respite. No permits are required, and water access is available on-site. To ensure the safety of all occupants, law enforcement patrols will be increased throughout the area. For additional information or assistance, individuals are encouraged to contact Lordsburg City Hall.

The Santa Clara Volunteer Fire Department is informing residents that a fire base has been established at Central Elementary School to support ongoing efforts to combat the Trout Fire. At present, there is no immediate threat to the Village of Santa Clara. Fire crews are actively working to contain the fire, and the situation is being closely monitored. The department will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

The Southwest Area Incident Management Team 4 is scheduled to hold a community meeting regarding the Trout Fire tomorrow, June 20, at 6:00 p.m. at the Grant County Business and Conference Center. Team representatives will provide updates on current fire activity, response efforts, and safety information. Community members are encouraged to attend. Those who cannot attend can view the meeting live on the Gila National Forest’s Facebook page.

During its regular meeting, the Hurley Town Council awarded two construction bids for improvements on Anza and Third streets. The first project will address roadway, drainage, and accessibility enhancements for both streets, while the second focuses specifically on sidewalk improvements along Anza Street. In a budget workshop held prior to the meeting, the council also identified its tentative top five priority projects, which include renovations to the former Chino Headquarters building, development of a new water system, security upgrades, updates to the animal shelter, and enhancements to the Big Muddy Recreation Area.
