Hidalgo Medical Services has been awarded four distinctions for quality health care from the Health Resources and Services Administration, a government agency recognizing community health centers such as HMS for outstanding quality healthcare delivery. Each recognition focuses on a specific aspect of operations:

  • The Health Center Quality Leader Award
  • The COVID-19 Testing Award
  • The Advancing Health Information Technology for Quality Award
  • The Patient Centered Medical Home Award

Congratulations to all within the HMS health care system who have earned these recognitions.

The Gila National Forest has announced volunteer opportunities regarding National Public Lands Day being celebrated on Saturday, September 25th. The public is invited to assist in the Ben Lilley Trailhead Maintenance & Cleanup from 9:00 A.M.  to 12:00 P.M. Participants are requested to meet at the Gila National Forest office located at 3005 East Camino Bosque in Silver City by 8:45 A.M. In addition, volunteers need to provide their own work gloves, wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, and sturdy walking shoes. All workers should bring their own sack lunch and water and be prepared to practice COVID safe precautions. Call the Gila National Forest office at 575-388-8201 before September 22nd to verify attendance.

According to the New Mexico Department of Health COVID-19 dashboard, the following local new COVID cases as per Wednesday, September 8th were reported as follows:

Grant county reported 5 news cases; Catron County reported one new case; Luna County reported one new case; and Hidalgo County reported no new cases. Statewide, 543 new cases were recorded.
