The Grant County Board of Commissioners will convene in a Special Meeting tomorrow evening, September 8, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. in the Commission Meeting Room at the Grant County Administration Center. Some of the tentative agenda items include:

  • Consideration of Resolution No. R-20-40; Certificate of Property Tax Rates in Mills for Tax Year 2020
  • Approve Certification for CARES Act Funding
  • Consideration of a Request to the State Auditor’s Office to Review CEO Contract Signed by GRMC Board of Trustees Dated October 27, 2017.

The agenda for this meeting may be altered up to seventy-two (72) hours prior to the meeting; copies can be obtained from the County Manager’s Office or viewed online at www.grantcountynm.gov. Emergency declared by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and the limits on the number of persons gathering, except for essential functions, the meeting will be closed to the public. It may be viewed live on the County’s YouTube Channel.

The Western New Mexico University School of Social Work online Bachelor of Social Work program is now ranked No. 1 by TheBestOnlineDegree.com. According to a release, WNMU tops the 2020 list of the 533 Baccalaureate Social Work Programs accredited by Council on Social Work Education. BestOnlineDegree.com currently ranks bachelor of social work programs based on seven categories with weighted percentages in accreditation of the university and the degree program, graduation growth as measured by the number of conferrals over the past five years, fully online completion status, availability to any student in the U.S., no on-campus requirements, and published per-credit hour rate of the academic program.

This year because of COVID-19 health restrictions, the Grant County Fair will be allowing youth to show their livestock in private events. Even though the typical Grant County Fair has been cancelled, youth will be showing their animals in private events scheduled September 23rd through 26th at the Cliff Fairgrounds. All participants will be following mandatory restrictions that include masks/face coverings and social distancing.
