At the time of compiling this report, the New Mexico Department of Health, announced a total of 30,477 New Mexico COVID-19 confirmed positive cases with 17,270 tested as recovered. In addition, COVID-19 cases recorded locally are as follows: Grant County has risen to 131 total cases with 53 recovered; Luna County rose to 445 total cases with 185 recovered; Hidalgo County rose to 102 total cases with 75 recovered; and Catron County remains at 9 total cases with 5 recovered.

Today is World Teachers Day, a global event launched by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1994. This year’s theme is “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. Held annually on the 5th of October since 1994, World Teachers’ Day commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

Tomorrow, October 6th begins early voting for 2020 General Election and early voters are able to vote in-person at their county clerk’s location. Early voting runs through Saturday, October 31st.
