The Give Grandly Coalition and Grant County Community Foundation will be having their tenth annual Give Grandly fundraiser for area nonprofits on Saturday, May 6th. Give Grandly is a powerful and dynamic event that connects donors to Catron, Grant, Hidalgo and Luna communities and the causes they believe in. This event will allow Nonprofits in Grant County to connect directly with donors and showcase the work they do for the communities. Hidalgo County will be having a Community Input meeting on Tuesday, May 9th. The topic of discussion will be the building of the Supportive Housing units that will be located behind Hope Haven. The meeting will be at City Hall Council Chambers at 6:00p.m. For more information call 575-542-3421.

Congratulations to Bayard Elementary’s Special Education (SPED) students and teachers for being highlighted in the New Mexico Public Education Eclipse newsletter. The academic gains the SPED students have achieved this year was spotlighted as well as the hard work and dedication the teachers provide to these students. The teachers consistently analyze data and review the accommodations each student needs to help provide the students with the best opportunities to learn and be successful in class. 

The Deming Municipal Court is offering Amnesty to individuals for the month of May. This program will offer those with outstanding warrants to obtain amnesty and those who are delinquent in their court fines to make arrangements and restore balance within their accounts. The court will offer a 50 percent reduction from the original fine amount if paid in full. To take advantage of this program or for more information, stop by the Deming Municipal Court.

Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest has a new program called Daisy by Mail. This is a short-term monthly, self-guided program for new Girl Scouts entering kindergarten or first grade in the fall of 2023. It is free for the first 50 girls who register.
