PNM has launched a project to inspect power poles for unauthorized attachments and maintenance to ensure continued reliability. This initiative will assist in gathering information for PNM to determine how many joint use attachments are on each pole, including any unauthorized attachments and identify any potential safety and maintenance concerns. Joint use refers to third party attachments on poles that PNM approved, including wireless, telephone, cable, and Internet service providers. According to a release, “all companies interested in attaching a service to a pole must complete an executed Master License Agreement and be approved by PNM before making any type of attachment to their structures.” PNM has requested that customers help by allowing the contractor/auditors, TechServ, access to their property, and keeping dogs inside when the auditors are expected be in their area. Auditors are scheduled to be in Southern New Mexico between March 25th through the month of May. For more information, visit PNM.com/2021PoleAudit
