In Gila National Forest news, as of 6:00 A.M. this morning, the Black Fire has covered 287,283 acres with 49% containment. There are 833 personnel working this fire. There is an in-person Black Fire Community Meeting scheduled for 6:00 P.M. tonight in the Mimbres at Camp Thunderbird, 3951 Highway 35 at mile marker 13.5. According to the U.S. Forest Service Gila National Forest, the most active part of the fire remains along the southeastern edge near Round Mountain and McKnight Canyon. More firefighters are working in the Kingston area and a temporary fire spike camp has been established in Kingston. The Silver City Consolidated Schools is offering their Summer Lunch Program beginning on June 13th running through July 29th. Children from the ages of 1-18 can get the free lunch and adults can purchase a lunch for $3.00. Breakfast will be served at G.W Stout Elementary from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. and lunch will be served from 12 noon to 1:00 P.M. at G.W Stout and Gough Park. First New Mexico Bank of Silver City presents the Wild Wild West Rodeo this Friday and Saturday, June 10 & 11 at Southwest Horseman’s Arena, 1928 Highway 180 East in Silver City. Tickets go on sale this week June 6 through 11 at Circle Heart Western Wear and Country Girls Nursery. Advanced ticket sales are $10 and $15 at the gate. The gates open Friday and Saturday at 5:30 P.M. with rodeo performances starting at 7 P.M. each night. The Wild Wild West Rodeo is pleased to announce that Trick Roper, Charro Daniel Castro will be back in the arena. This year’s Title Sponsor is 1st New Mexico Bank of Silver City. In addition, Friday night sponsors are Freeport McMoRan and Snappy Mart, and Saturday night sponsors are The Brown Boys at Werner Tire and First Financial Credit Union.
